About This Special Issue
The rapid evolution of wireless communication technologies has led to the emergence of 5G networks, which promise unprecedented capabilities in terms of speed, latency, and connectivity. As we look towards the next generation of wireless communication, integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become essential for optimizing network performance, enhancing user experience, and enabling new applications. This special issue aims to explore the transformative impact of AI on 5G and beyond, focusing on innovative solutions, applications, and challenges in this dynamic field.
We invite original research papers, review articles, and case studies that address the following topics related to AI in 5G and future wireless networks:
(1) AI for Network Slicing: Techniques for optimizing resource allocation and management through AI-driven network slicing in 5G environments.
(2) Predictive Analytics for Network Maintenance: Leveraging AI for predictive maintenance and fault detection to ensure network reliability and reduce downtime.
(3) Intelligent Resource Management: AI algorithms for dynamic resource allocation and load balancing to enhance network performance under varying conditions.
(4) AI in Edge Computing for 5G: Exploring the integration of AI at the edge for real-time data processing, reduced latency, and improved user experience.
(5) Enhanced Security Measures: AI applications for identifying and mitigating security threats in 5G networks, including anomaly detection and intrusion prevention.
(6) AI-Driven Quality of Experience (QoE) Enhancements: Strategies for utilizing AI to analyze user behavior and improve QoE in applications like augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR).
(7) Federated Learning in 5G Networks: Investigating federated learning frameworks for collaborative training of AI models while preserving data privacy in distributed environments.
(8) Cognitive Radio Techniques: AI applications for cognitive radio networks, enhancing spectrum sensing, sharing, and decision-making capabilities.
(9) AI for Massive MIMO Systems: Techniques for optimizing massive MIMO configurations using AI to enhance throughput and reliability.
(10) AI-Driven IoT Connectivity: Exploring the role of AI in managing and optimizing IoT devices and applications within 5G networks.
(11) Multi-Agent Systems for Network Optimization: Implementing AI-based multi-agent systems for collaborative decision-making and resource management in complex network environments.
(12) Challenges and Future Directions: Discussions on the challenges of integrating AI into 5G and beyond, including computational requirements, scalability, and ethical considerations.
We invite researchers, educators and practitioners to contribute their insights, experiences and research findings to this special issue.
